Things to know

DJI RC (original) — streaming disabled

Has WiFi, runs DJI Fly, but DJI deliberately removed Live Streaming. The biggest trap.

Switch to RC-N1/N2 + phone ($0 extra) or upgrade to RC Pro ($900+)

DJI Fly V1.18+ downgraded RC Pro to 720p

RC Pro native RTMP was 1080p until Fly V1.18.0 (Sep 2025). Affects Mavic 3 series, Mini 3 Pro, Air 2S on RC Pro.

Rollback DJI Fly to V1.13.9 for 1080p. HDMI capture unaffected (still 4K).

O4 drones cannot use O3 controllers

Mini 4 Pro / Air 3 / Air 3S / Flip / Neo / Mavic 4 Pro / Avata 2 CANNOT pair with RC-N1 / DJI RC / RC Pro.

RC-N2 (~$80) is the cheapest O4 controller.

RC 2 / RC Pro 2 — max 720p RTMP

Phone controllers do 1080p. Built-in screen controllers are hardware-limited to 720p. RC Pro 2 has HDMI out as workaround.

Use RC-N2/N3 + Android phone for 1080p, or RC Pro 2 HDMI → OBS for 4K

V1.16.0+ external mic requirement

Built-in-screen controllers (RC 2, RC Pro, RC Pro 2) need an external USB-C mic plugged in to start streaming. Phone controllers are unaffected.

Any USB-C mic works — even a $5 lavalier. Rollback to V1.13.x bypasses entirely.

Mavic 4 Pro — 720p streaming max with built-in screen controllers

Despite being the flagship, RC Pro 2 and RC 2 both limit streaming to 720p.
